New Life

Regeneration means being born again or receiving new life.  The Scriptures teach that those who are in Christ have received new life in Christ.  We were dead in our sins (Eph. 2:1, 5; Col. 2:13) and Christ has made us alive.

But how are we alive?  Did we just get zapped with some spiritual paddles and our spiritual hearts started beating again?  What really happened?  Well, Paul says that Jesus is our life.  We were dead, but Jesus entered us and we live now because of His life.  (Gal. 2:20; Col. 3:4)

I realize that most of us were walking around thinking we were alive when we were saved.  In a physical and fleshly sense, we were alive.  But in a spiritual sense, we were dead.  So what has been made alive is our spirit.  The Spirit of God has united with our spirits to make us alive and Christ is the life in us.

Hard to understand?  Of course!  This is a deep mystery that is hard to relate in simple terms.  That’s okay.  The bottom line is that there was a time when I was dead and now I am alive because of Jesus.  And the life in me is His life.  It can never and will never be taken away because it is the only life I have and the only real life I could ever have.

This also means that Jesus is in me and I am in Him.  We cannot be separated again.

Thanks Dave for sharing the pure unadulterated gospel. He who has The Son has Life, and he who does not have The Son does not have Life for the wrath of God abides on him. – John 3:36 The contrasts are so easily seen in Scripture: The lost are spiritually dead in their sins and are, “in Adam”. The saved are new creations in Christ, made alive, and are forever, “in Christ.”
